The Founder & Principal of Uncut Video is Guy McNally, a veteran of technical development in broadcast, film and music. This website provides a perspective on a long career, but also some specific highlights that may be useful to anyone in the industry today.
My main superpower was to be in the right place at the right time. I started as a Research Engineer at the BBC, just as the advantages of digital audio and video were being recognized for the first time. I saw the opportunity and in the following years worked as a Consultant, founded 6 companies of which at least one could be considered a success, and finally stopped the drift into management and returned to my roots as an Individual Contributor.
The Projects section of this site shows some of the larger projects with which I am proud to be associated. Some as lead engineer, some as startup CEO, others as Individual Contributor. I worked with many talented people and it was a wild ride!
Over the years the curated IP grew into two libraries that encompass many of the features we now regard as fundamental in modern digital systems. Though dating back many years, they can still provide a first class solution. They also serve as a useful reference for those new to the field.
This has been used in new projects to "hit the ground running". As an Individual Contributor, I have worked on a diverse range of projects including VR headsets, mobile phone Apps and medical devices. Some of the companies are listed in the Applications section.
